A character’s backstory involves their origin and their occupation. Each of these gives the character a package of related labels—traits and tags—that are common to people who have similar Origins and Occupations.

Most characters have only one origin, which describes the source of their Powers.

A character’s occupation tells you what they do for a living or how they spend their days. Many super heroes who are dedicated to their adventures full-time list their occupation as “adventurer.”

A character can also have labels unrelated to their origin and occupation. Their rank determines how many extra Traits you can pick for them. A character gets one extra trait per rank.

You can add as many or as few tags as you like, and they can change throughout play.
